Our Sycamore trees have
been with us since we moved in here back in 1985 or so. Such beautiful
trees and the tallest trees in the neighborhood.
Big beautiful leaves that
gave off lots of shade for the back yard in the am and our house during
the hot part of the day. But dead is dead and
last year they did not leaf
out as in the years past. Every time the wind blows BIG limbs break
off and some of the biggest hang over the house.
This year there was just to
much dead in the top, not near enough leaves and several big branches that
are ready to fall.

As sad as it makes us it was
time to drop these suckers and cut them up for fire wood.

So bright and
early at noon Sunday I found this guy in my tree with a
chain saw. Wasn't long
till there was a big mess on the ground.

I missed most of the excitement
of this first one being the top broke off and it didn't fall on me or their
truck. I dis remembers me what
they say about a bird in hand
but seems I got one. Never found the nest or any more birds but this
little critter was laying in the rubble.

Then they tackled the other
one and started wacken off branches and making even more mess.

This time I got
me a birds eye view by sitten on the roof. It was funny in that he
had it almost ready to fall and his chain saw ran out of gas. Then
it started to fall then hung up. But a big pull with the truck and
it came on down but for sure farther to the left as I looked at it, they
they planned.
Much better view from the roof
and if you want
to see the short video stomp
on this un.
They was suppose to come back
on Monday but it was almost raining so not one showed up. But Tuesday
morning, before coffee, they started to clean up the mess they made.
Did not do to good of a job but when I got the price from them it was just
to fall the trees and I was gonna chop them up and haul out the trash.
As I found out later ( look for later below ) it was a good thing they
chopped them up. |

Our neighbors son in law,
Bill Dean, wanted SOME of the trees for fire wood and some
ended up being most of it. Good for him. Like a dummy I
did not get a picture of the
falled trees, just the mess left over after Bill Dean got thru. He
showed up with a lot spliter and it was a days work
but he will not hath to buy
fire wood this year for sure. Took him all day and all I did was
offer advice and loaned him some tools.

Most of the 'chunks' was to
big to lift but my ol Rebel loading ramp came in real handy.

| Finally after
healing from all my wounds and such I starts to clean up the mess.
Our trash haulers by passed the mess in the front yard twice and I don't
blame them, the pile of branches was to big and to tangled to haul off.
So I gets out my itty bitty electric chain saw and goes to sawing.
I saws and I saws and I saws some more. Finally got one small branch
cut. I took the hint right away, with 3 big piles of this stuff and
some pretty big 'chunks' left I needed more sawing power. So I breaks
down and got my first ever real chain saw. I carried me down to Lowe's
in my hand two wheeled truck and did the dirty deed.
I finally got this critter
fires up and what a difference, damn why didn't some un tell me toys don't
take the place of tools when you need to get-ur-dided.

This is after the clean
up in front and next is the two bigger piles in back.

I made me self this log chopper
and keep some of the limbs for fire wood.

Then I took a break from the
clean up and put us some shade for Vonnie. It was mid June before
I got back to this mess but finally it was a done deal.
So sad to say there is a BIG
difference in what is and what was, but had to be.
